The name Cedars Sweets is inspired by the Cedar of Lebanon, a timeless symbol of strength, heritage, and pride. It represents the values at the heart of our business: family, hospitality, authenticity, and a deep love for sharing the flavours of Lebanon.

Cedars Sweet is the realization of a lifelong dream by its founder, Ahmad Hijazi, who was born and raised in South Lebanon. His journey began in 1988, when he entered the world of Lebanese food and traditional sweets. Over the years, he refined his craft while working with renowned bakeries, pastry shops, and restaurants across Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and later Toronto, where he continued his career with Lebanese restaurants. Every step of the journey allowed him to learn new techniques while preserving and sharing the authentic flavours and traditions of his homeland.

Driven by a passion for Lebanese sweets and a desire to bring a taste of home to Canada, Ahmad opened the first Cedars Sweets location in North Edmonton in 2009. His dedication to quality, authenticity, and craftsmanship quickly earned the trust of the community, making Cedars Sweets a destination for traditional Lebanese pastries and the baklava that many customers consider among the best in the city.

As the love for Cedar Sweets grew, so did the journey. In 2016, Cedars Sweets introduced authentic Lebanese gelato, including beloved flavours such as Ashta, Pistachio and more. Then, in 2022, the business expanded with a full-service Lebanese restaurant and catering operation in West Edmonton.

Today, Cedars Sweet remains proudly family-owned, combining generations of tradition with the finest ingredients and genuine hospitality. Some of our specialty ingredients are sourced directly from Lebanon to preserve the authentic taste our customers love, while meeting the highest Canadian quality and food safety standards. What started as one man’s passion has become a growing family legacy, bringing people together through food, culture, and the warmth of Lebanese hospitality.
